Dr. Julia Iafrate

Dr. Iafrate, is a double board-certified physician in Sports Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. She serves as Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and is the Director of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Education and Medical Social Media at NYU Langone Health. A team physician for the U.S. Ski Team, Dr. Iafrate is widely recognised for her work in sports injuries, tendinopathies, dance medicine, and musculoskeletal ultrasound. She is a frequent media contributor and host of the Orthopedics Show on SiriusXM Doctor Radio.

In this session, A Deep Dive into Ultrasound Evaluation of the Lateral Hip, Dr. Iafrate combines cadaveric dissections with ultrasound imaging to enhance understanding of lateral hip anatomy and related pathologies.

Dr. Zenas Igbinoba

Dr. Igbinoba, is a board-certified Musculoskeletal Radiologist at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He completed his medical degree at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, followed by a radiology residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia and a fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging at HSS.

Dr. Igbinoba’s clinical expertise includes ultrasound evaluation of upper extremity peripheral nerves and image-guided musculoskeletal interventions. He is an active member of the Society of Skeletal Radiology and the Radiological Society of North America, with research interests focused on musculoskeletal imaging and peripheral nerve injury.

At MSK Japan 2026, Dr. Igbinoba will discuss Ultrasound of Upper Extremity Nerves and Targeted Injections. In this practical and image-rich session, Dr. Igbinoba explores high-resolution ultrasound techniques for evaluating upper extremity peripheral nerves, with a focus on anatomy, pathology, and image-guided injection strategies.

Dr. Erek Latzka

Dr. Latzka, MD is a board-certified Sports Medicine Physiatrist at Boston Sports & Biologics in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He completed medical school at Tufts University, followed by residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Washington and a Sports Medicine fellowship at Swedish Medical Center, where he developed expertise in diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Dr. Latzka spent five years on faculty at the University of Washington, where he directed the ultrasound curriculum for the sports medicine fellowship and received the department’s Teacher of the Year award in 2022. He now offers advanced ultrasound-guided procedures including thread and Sonex carpal tunnel release, trigger finger release, ultrasonic tenotomy, and the novel thread plantaris release. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine and was recently recognised as an AAPM&R “Innovator and Influencer” for his contributions to the field.

At MSK Japan, he will explore The Plantaris in Chronic Posterior Ankle Pain: Sonographic Challenges and Interventions. In this forward-thinking session, Dr. Latzka explores the emerging role of the plantaris in chronic posterior ankle pain. Through case-based discussion and high-resolution ultrasound, he highlights diagnostic challenges and shares cutting-edge, ultrasound-guided interventions, including the novel thread plantaris release.

Dr. Wesley Troyer

Dr. Troyer, MD, RMSK is a board-certified Sports Medicine Physician with fellowship training in non-surgical musculoskeletal care and expertise in physical medicine & rehabilitation. RMSK-certified in musculoskeletal ultrasound, Dr. Troyer takes a dynamic, hands-on approach to diagnosing and treating athletic injuries across all levels of sport.

He currently serves as Associate Program Director of the Mayo Clinic Florida Sports Medicine Fellowship and has worked as a team physician for the USA Basketball Junior National Teams and Jacksonville Armada soccer teams. His clinical interests include soccer medicine, injury-specific rehabilitation, return-to-play decision-making, and diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Dr. Troyer will review Advanced Ultrasound Techniques for Evaluating the Carpal Tunnel and will demonstrate the approach for Ultrasound-Guided Thread Carpal Tunnel Release, highlighting key anatomy, procedural tips, and clinical applications.
